Poetry written by Angelika Machnik-Jones, recorded by Tim Oden.
You hide in plain sight, unconvinced of your worth.
Darkness. Void of hope, warmth, life. All that remains are your thoughts, blank, imagined, like shadows in a cave.
You fight and you struggle and you sink in deeper. So don’t fight it, don’t struggle. Just watch the shadows in a cave.
Is that all it is? The desolation, the remembrance of the past. Yet, what is darkness if not the absence of light? So turn around. Remember the shadows, but choose the light. Find the light. Where is it? That fleeting glimmer of hope, of what could be. Can you see it?
You walk through life unsatisfied, questioning the truth. You’ve turned halfway, with your sight neither in the dark nor in the light. You’re wondering and seeking in a perpetual state of grey. Will you find it? Will you find the light?
The feeling of warmth inside of your heart, the vibrating flutter inside of your soul. The ray of sun finding it’s way through a stained glass window. You run and you seek, escaping the truth. There is no cave, there is no fire, there are no shadows. The truth is inside of you, both the dark and the light. But you struggle and you fight. Why do you fight? Because without darkness there is no light, without pain there is no love. So struggle and fight, then understand the light.
Light is beauty, light is peace. Light is kindness, compassion and love that refuses to cease. Light is you, you creature of heaven, you product of love. So love just as you are loved, unconditionally, painfully, beautifully.
