WELCOME.

Oklahoma Conservatory of Music offers instrumental lessons in violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, and harp. Students also receive the opportunity to be a part of the Chamber Music Program, Musicianship Program, Student Recitals and Studio Classes. Based in Oklahoma City, OCM is a premiere music school focused on student excellence and deeper understanding of music. Whether a beginning student or advanced player, OCM is the right place to learn music, interact with fantastic faculty, and meet new friends.

WHAT SETS US APART?

Oklahoma Conservatory of Music is inspired by the Eastern European performing arts teaching system. The music school creates an all-around musical experience for students and provides a full immersion into the world of classical music. Students receive a well rounded instrumental education, based on a technical regimen of scales, exercises, etudes and learn musicality and expression through carefully chosen solo repertoire.

All students are highly encouraged to attend musicianship classes, which teach music theory and develop aural skills. Students may also choose to be a part of a chamber music ensemble, where they learn about musical communication between players. Frequent performances help young musicians with any issues of stage fright and give joy of sharing their music with the audience. Teachers at Oklahoma Conservatory of Music give those performing opportunities to students through Recitals and Studio Classes.

All the teachers at Oklahoma Conservatory of Music are highly skilled musicians with a graduate degree in music performance. They include members of Oklahoma City Philharmonic and other orchestras around the state.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR, DR. ANGELIKA MACHNIK-JONES

Welcome to the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music! What began as a dream in my mind many years ago, has now in less than a decade influenced countless lives of young budding musicians, and has become a hub for high-quality music education in Oklahoma. Having myself studied in an artistically rigorous environment present in the Polish music education system, and now having a child of my own, I understand the need for young students to be brought up in a way, that encourages not only discipline and long-term goal setting, but also cultivates imagination, artistic expression and communication with that ever-fleeting world of musical beauty.

The students talents are fostered by experienced pedagogues, who educate in a way that is both effective and challenging. Those teacher musicians provide inspiration to their students and guide them in a way only an experienced musician can. Those teachers often become life-long mentors. The building of these relationships with faculty and student peers creates special connections, which often last far into the students futures.

If you choose to join OCM, we will welcome you into a world of joy, passion, perseverance and hopefully a lifelong journey.

Dr. Angelika Machnik-Jones

FROM OUR STUDENTS’ PARENTS

"Our children have studied cello, violin, piano, and musicianship at the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music since 2014, after studying one year at another music studio. We have found the instructors at OCM to be thoughtful, dedicated educators, who have instilled in our children what will hopefully be a lifelong love of music. The instructors expect the best of their students, and will challenge them to reach their full potential. However, they do so in a patient, encouraging, and caring manner. We feel truly blessed that our children are able to learn from such accomplished, professional musicians."

"We have been so pleased with our experience at the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music. My daughter (age 8) has been in private cello instruction and my son (age 10) in private piano for the last 2 years. Angelika is an amazing teacher, working well with both new beginners and advanced students. She is patient and kind but at the same time sets clear expectations and goals from my daughter. Angelika introduced scales and technique early on, which has helped my daughter advance rapidly in both her musical knowledge and skills. At the same time, she is always working on a performance piece to keep lessons fun and interesting.

We really like that OCM holds frequent recitals (both small and large) to encourage the children and help with performance skills. Our kids are no longer scared about playing in front of an audience.

The musicianship classes have also been a great addition to their musical education. They meet with a small group of similar age (two other sibling sets - lots of fun!). The class is taught in a high energy, interactive way that keeps them interested and learning all the fundamentals of music that can be overlooked in many other private lesson settings.

Overall, I am so thankful that a friend recommended Angelika's music school when we were looking to make a change. At this point, I can't imagine working with anyone else!!"

"Marat Gabdullin at the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music has been an outstanding teacher. I can't emphasize how important it is to have a skilled instructor, even for a beginning string student. There are a lot of bad habits one can pick up that are hard to unlearn. Marat's teaching is very rigorous, he will not allow you to progress with weak form that could hurt your playing later on.

Both of my boys have been taking lessons with Marat for several years now, and I can say the improvement has been remarkable. They have both been successful auditioning for the prestigious Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Orchestra at Quartz Mountain, as well as placing in the All-State Orchestra.

If you dream of playing your instrument at a very advanced, maybe even professional level, OCM would be the ideal place for you to enjoy lessons. The director, Angelika Machnik-Jones, is a similarly outstanding Cello Instructor, and I don't believe she would offer any instructors that weren't top notch."
